Thousands of roofs in North Carolina have been damaged by hail and wind storms over the past several years.  These storm related damages are typically covered under a home owners insurance policy.

Often, a property owner does not realize their roof may have damage until there is a leak or water stains appear on the ceiling and walls.  This could be a result of hail or wind damage that occurred long before the visible signs of water damage appear.  In fact, most hail and wind damage cannot be seen from ground level.  One of our HAAG certified roof inspectors, will conduct and initial inspection to determine the condition of the roof and if damages that are storm related are covered under the insurance policy. If significant wind or hail damage is found, Stormtek will assist you and manage the entire claims process including:

  • Preparation of inspection reports and photos if needed
  • Review insurance policy coverage
  • File initial claim
  • Meet with insurance adjuster on site
  • Submit documentation needed to secure insurance payment
  • Review insurance company estimates
  • Complete roof replacement
  • Complete interior repairs if needed

FAQ

Q. How do I know if I have storm damage?
A. Some signs are water intrusion, leaking, brown spots on ceilings/walls, missing shingles or damage to other structures such as barns or detached garages

Q.  How does a claim affect my insurance coverage?
A.  State laws generally prohibit an insurance company from canceling coverage for filing a severe weather related claim.  How a claim affects your policy will vary depending on the insurance company's claims policy procedures, claim history, type of damage, length of time with company etc.  Stormtek has worked with all insurance companies and may be able to give you a general idea of how filing may affect your policy.  Call us for help

Q. What will this cost me?
A.  If your roof is approved by your insurance company, usually the only cost to the property owner is the policy deductible

Q.  What if my claim is denied?
A.  If your claim is denied, there is no cost for the initial inspection. Simply put, if stormtek can not get a complete roof replacement for your property, you owe us nothing.

Q. How long is the claims process
A.  Generally the claims process takes 2-3 weeks but can vary depending on your insurance company.
